Outfit 02.27.12 + old briefcase

Bought a briefcase on eBay in the foolish hope that it would hold my laptop… drat. The square shape of my ThinkPad renders it nearly impossible to stuff into anything that looks cool.

Nightmareface is back!

World famous grilled cheese

If there were only one recipe I could pass down to my kids (other than tossing a pan of frozen tater tots in the oven…), it’s this:

I started to write out the recipe, but it’s Sunday night and I’m lazy. Instead I’ll talk about something more interesting.

I’ve had this song on my computer for about 2-3 years. I hadn’t been able to identify the name of the song or the singer because it’s performed in a foreign language (I assumed Arabic, but my grasp of Arabic is still stuck at the “I like to drink coffee” level). Today I decided to try out the Shazam app on my phone. I did not think it’d be able to identify an obscure Middle Eastern song, but… it worked!

The song is called “Khodny bein eidek”, by Hamid el-Shaery and Nelly Zidan. It’s also on YouTube. I love it. It’s been helping me fall asleep for the past 2 years.

Outfit 02.20.12 + 3 ways to wear the jacket

What I wore today:

What I might wear in the future:

eBay find: cropped jacket

I’ve been on the lookout for a Chanel-inspired jacket for a while now and was happy to score one on eBay for $10. Now that it’s arrived, I have no idea how to pair it. The jacket looks tacky and way too formal next to the rest of my clothes. Must resort to Google for inspiration on dressing it down for class.

Saturday afternoon

Tater tots with chopsticks

I had a rough week. Projects, deadlines, group meetings, all-nighters, and a steamy date with a 12-page research paper on Valentine’s Day. I have never been more thankful for the arrival of Thursday night, which I am currently celebrating with a humongous plate of tater tots. They taste weirdly like fish, though, so I’m going to switch to a different brand the next time I get groceries.
